Learn the "real deal."
Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is the most battle-tested martial art in the world. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was established by Rorion Gracie in order to make a US debut of the martial art in which he felt so confident. To demonstrate the superiority of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu against other systems, he asked his little brother, Royce, to represent the family. To the surprise of both the viewers and the participants of the no-holds-barred fights, Royce quickly disposed of each opponent he faced, turning the world of martial arts upside down. What followed this mainstream exposure is probably the most significant martial arts revolution in history. Today, Jiu-Jitsu is the core of every mixed martial artist's skillset.
Jiu-Jitsu is a highly effective self defense system, yet most students quickly get addicted to the fun and challenge of sparring (called "rolling"). Jiu-Jitsu is like a game of grappling chess, and as such, it's a lifelong learning process that qualifies the martial art as a Lifestyle Activity. We all have busy schedules, and time management is everything. Instead of running on a treadmill to nowhere, Jiu-Jitsu students get multiple benefits from a single activity, making it pound-for-pound the ultimate fitness activity

Our Academy represents Team Pedro Sauer. First degree black belt and head instructor Robert Lovi is not only world renowned for his elite training pedigree and technical skill on the mat, but for his unique gift of teaching techniques in conceptual terms. Classes are relatively small, and students get the personal attention that gives them the edge they need to confidently grow into their belts.
The academy used to be referred to as the best kept secret in San Diego before the secret got out. Since then, the academy quickly outgrew its original "secret hideout," and has exapanded to a comfortable, spacious facility with a lot of mat space. Professor Lovi recently appeared in an article that was distributed to USA Today and other media outlets. The academy is host to a "who's who" of famous names in Jiu-Jitsu -- legends who drop by, or sometimes visit for seminars, demonstrating different aspects of Jiu-Jitsu.
